Amy Carter is one of the founders of Nema and joint Managing Director of Bespoke Experience Ltd and has been living in Mozambique for the last 4 ½ years setting up Nema and Guludo Beach Lodge. Through her work Amy has been awarded the "Young Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2006" award as well as being a finalist for the "Women in Ethical Business Awards 2007" and was highly commended in the "Responsible Travel Awards 2006 - Best for Poverty Reduction". Amy is also an Ambassador for the Children's charity, Global Angels.
Charles Foster is a barrister, writer, part time Judge of the Crown Court, a tutor in medical law and ethics at the University of Oxford and a Visiting Fellow of Green College, Oxford. He read veterinary medicine and law at the University of Cambridge, researched wild animal immobilization in Saudi Arabia and lagomorph comparative anatomy at the Royal College of Surgeons and was a research fellow at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. A good deal of his life is spent on expeditions. Recent expeditions have included a study of mule and camel water metabolism in the Danakil Depression, Ethiopia, some long desert traverses in North Africa and the Middle East and a ski expedition to the North Pole. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and is the author, editor and contributor to twenty three books and hundreds of articles and papers.
Richard Nightingale is a multi award winning architect working around the globe. Richard studied at Cambridge University from 1973 - 1979 and subsequently worked for firms in Kenya, London and Hong Kong before joining Colin St. John Wilson and Partners to work on the new British Library. He set up Cullum and Nightingale Architects Limited in 1985. He has been a visiting lecturer and teacher at Cambridge, Sheffield, the Architectual Association and Welsh Schools of Architecture. Richard Nightingale became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 1999.
Laura Tenison MBE is the founder and Managing Director of JoJo Maman Bébé. Launched fourteen years ago this leading multi-channel retailer offers a large collection of fashionable maternity wear, a Breton inspired baby and children's collection and original nursery products, gifts and toys. JoJo Maman Bébé is predominantly known for its mail order and web sales, but is currently expanding its chain of boutique-style stores. The company policy is based on strong codes of ethical practice, both in product manufacturing and sourcing in the UK and overseas. JoJo Maman Bébé has provided (and pledged) an enormous amount of support to Nema (including this website). Laura was the Welsh Entrepreneur of the Year 2003, Harpers & Queen Entrepreneur of the Year 2005, Winner of the Fast Growth Business Award Female Entrepreneur of the Year 2007 and received an MBE for services to business in the Queen's 2004 New Year's Honours List.
Paul Cook brings a wealth of financial experience to the board of trustees and acts as Nema's treasurer.
